ANZO chief executive now also chairman of NZGBC
October 6, 2008
AMP NZ Office Trust (ANZO) chief executive Robert Lang has been appointed chairman of the New Zealand Green Building Council.
Mr Lang has been a board member of the NZGBC since last year and the appointment as chairman is in addition – and complementary to – his ongoing role with ANZO.
He said there has been strong interest from ANZO’s tenants in the benefits of environmentally-sustainable building practices and how their office space can contribute to their own sustainability goals. “Our investors are always keen to hear how we are responding to new directions in office property and occupier preferences, and expect to see ANZO taking a lead,” said Mr Lang.
ANZO is currently working on the redevelopment of 21 Queen Street in Auckland, whch is on track to be completed in September next year and to achieve the highest-attainable New Zealand Green Star rating of five.
ANZO will also move to have its existing buildings rated under the Green Star system once the rating tool is completed and approved by the NZGBC.
About the New Zealand Green Building Council
The New Zealand Green Building Council is a not-for-profit, industry organisation dedicated to accelerating the development and adoption of market-based green building practices. The Council achieves these aims through:-
- Setting standards of best practice through the adaptation of the Green Star rating tool
- Education and training for all areas of the building industry value chain
- Providing access to networks, information and resources for our members to actively lead the market.
About Green Star
Green Star is a comprehensive, national, voluntary green building rating system under which the building industry may apply to have their projects rated and certified by the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC). The rating tool assesses the environmental impact of buildings on a range of categories including energy, water, materials and emissions, and provides an objective assessment of how "green" a building is. Buildings are rated according to their type/function and in three stages: the design, the built/construction, and the end-use performance of the building.
